I wouldn't concider that as much as an immigration problem to America as Mexico is.

Only read the first page or so.

Here is my opinion, Mexicans should be forced to immigrate legally just like everyone else. What they are doing IS a criminal act. They do have the right to protest, but I don't believe they will accomplish anything. I am a Canadian immigrant to Canada, and it is simply NOT FAIR that I had to go through the legal immigration process and Mexicans might be able to get citizenship/green cards without going through it. If you don't know, it can take years to immigrate to the USA (My dad got a working visa, so we were able to live here while we applied for green cards) it took me two years to get my green card. In order to do this I had to travel between Canada and America at least 3 times, waiting at different embassies and offices in long lines.

Yet Mexicans say they should just be allowed to stroll in? This is extremely unfair. There is a reason that the immigration process to the US isn't the easiest thing in the world, but it is definately possible to do, in fact, tens, maybe even hundreds, of thousands do so every year! I am one of these people. I still have a few years to wait before I can become a citizen, and I fully plan to.

mexico is the largest source of immigrants but the percentage from other central american nations is highly significant, I believe. I'll see if I can find it.

also hr2 this issue isn't about the mexicans that haven't come across yet, it's about what to do with the ones that are already here.

You don't hear nearly as much about asians taking boats over to America. Or Canadians. It's just Mexicans.

He's saying they should have to go through the same process of legalization through which he is going. Sounds reasonable to me.

First of all, it's kinda hard to row 5,000 miles from Asia. Second, Canadains don't have to row boats. (I know that's not what you meant, but I couldn't resist. Uze gud grammer nxt timee)

they can't go through the same process as they came in illegally in the first place.

edit: also it is hard to find reliable statistics on origins of illegal immigrants. As far as legal ones (I think) go, this table lists the percentages:

That's the purpose of kicking them out. Can't stay until you're legalized? Let me direct you to your citizenship class. You can obtain a work permit while you are getting citizenship, just like Hr2's dad did.

"But we're already here" isn't a good enough reason to forget the "illegally" part.

yeah I mean that's what the whole legislation thing is trying to resolve... when and how to get them work permits and when and how they can later apply for citizenship. They obviously aren't going to be kicked out, nor should they be.

Why shouldn't they be? They legally shouldn't be here in the first place, so if they're not willing to go through the process of becoming legal citizens then they have no right to be here and should leave, either by being forced out or leaving on their own.

and actually pretty logical... if the cheap labor is forced to leave, then prices for the food they harvest goes up.

Not to mention how much money and logistical resources it would take to locate and deport 11.5 million people.

Um... Racism is not a valid view no matter what.

And "A day without a Mexican" is an appropriate description for that day, no matter how "discriminatory" you may view it.

So be quiet.

If you actually take time to read the topic, you'd actually know what you're talking about.

But you didn't, so as a result you don't have a clue what I meant.
