I see. To be fair though, taking Uber all the time is still probably much less expensive than paying for and driving a car.

A lot of the people in my area own vehicles just for that reason - everything is spaced out and not compact like New York (just an example). I'm not to hyped up on the idea of a stranger driving me around places on the reg. There are even times where I will even want to drive out of the state just to do something different with friends. I actually like to drive and I like my car.

I agree. We have a Dart train in Dallas that's fun to take. It goes through parks, zoos, restaurants...but I have to drive 20 minutes to get there.
