Not to burst anyone's bubble, but...
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ Matthew 7:21-23 Easy for God to tell, but on human terms? We can put on quite a good show. We can even fool ourselves well enough to think we are truly Christians. As a result, there are probably far too many flying under that banner. Now that's not to say that no real Christ-follower ever lives in sin, because everyone lives a sinful life. But I really doubt you can really accept Jesus without repentance... So don't just look at anyone who claims to be a "Christian" and automatically believe that all Christians are supposed to be like that person. Unfortunately, in America we are a society that puts convenience on highest priority. We even do it to a point where we're willing to shave off a few months of the definition of life so that some women can avoid pregnancy just because they feel like it. Firstly, it's true that people will always have sex, inside or outside of marriage. But, with abortion in the picture, removing the baby from the womb eliminates the most natural consequence of having sex, especially outside of marriage. And that leaves room for? More sex! Only now instead of stopping when they get pregnant, women (or girls) will go ahead and keep having sex. And that, of course, means more rampant spread of STDs, which means that more people might have to use their medical insurance, which means that the insurance premiums will go up. A lot. Check this out: 9 What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? 10 I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:9-11 "Eternity in their hearts." Hmm... I don't suppose anyone here is capable of truly imagining what it would be like to absolutely not exist. We seem to think that perhaps some part of us should live on. That's what's been planted into our hearts, anyway. See what some people don't get is that that fetus may be just an extremely organized clump of tissue and developing organs, but that clump of tissue is meant to house an eternal soul, one way or another. Last time I checked, eternity lasted a lot longer than 9 months.[/i]

Well, I mean, hell, even when she's having the child her legs will be spread. And then items will be torn, blood will be shed, and tears of the horrible horrible pain of childbirth will grace the mother's countenance.
And then a week later, forgetting the pain of having a child, she will have something shoved into her scarred roast beef curtain. Mal

Once again Jewp is completely correct. Having kids will NOT stop anyone from having sex. Look at the welfare moms (I am making a broad generalization, but that is the stereotype I see so often in reality) who have 3, 4, even 5 or more kids, often each one with a different father, and they do not stop having sex. They have more and more children that everyone else has to care for, through the welfare the government gives them. Is that more Christian than the girl who KNOWS she cannot give a baby a good life, and will endanger or severely disrupt her own life by even going through with a pregnancy, who opts to abort it for the good of both of them?

Who cares if they continue having unprotected sex?
They have that choice... unprotected sex itself is not murder.

Neither is an abortion, if done early enough. A ball of cells with no nervous system and no brain is not a life. I'll give it to you only if you specify after the 2nd trimester, when they do have a nervous system semi-developed and can actually feel pain.
Nowhere in the Bible (either Old or New) does it say that a fetus is a life. You can't go against the commandment of "Thou shalt not kill" when you're not taking a life.

*note before i start: I hope not to sound too pushy or something...im not one to try and force my religion on people, i respect that other people have opinions, and that they are perfectly entitled to them, i wont force anyone to believe what i am saying.
Well, I've been sitting here for something close to an hour, reading this thread, having to read a few posts a couple of times just to make sure that there wasnt multiple meanings to some things people where saying. I've seen some excelent posts, me being Christian myself, and some posts that fustrate me beyond reason, eg. Boris' CONSTANT bashing of Mal's reference to Leviticus. For starters...Leviticus is the 3rd book in the Bible!!! Do you have any idea how many things have changed since then? Animal sacrifice has not been necessary since the death of Jesus Christ! He was the ultimate sacrifice for us all...meaning that we no longer needed animal sacrifices! I also found a mistake in one of Mal's posts, something about Adam being cast out and commiting incest. Incest was not infact a problem in the days of Adam and Eve. Incest was the ONLY option. Incest was only made a sin when the population had grown enough for people to be able to go out and "bed" somebody that they weren't related to....which wasnt for a 100 or so years. But there are two main points that people made that really stood out : 1. Somebody mentioned Bush's strong Christian beliefs. Now, im Australian, and yet Bush still has a huge impact on me, as he tends to order our country to war...yes WAR. Now what happens in a war? One thing would be that people are killed...murdered...now...one of the 10 Commandments..the 6th i believe, possibly 7th....says (NIV) Exodus 20:13 "You shall not commit murder" Now i know that goes against what i said earlier about things changing from the old testiment to the new...but there are some things that didnt change...the commandments being one of them... My point being that Bush is pretty much commiting murder! He is ordering the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, whether innocent or guilty! I would call that murder....even if he isnt using his own two hands to do it personally! He is causing other people to commit murder...and Christians are told..in the bible...to get people to turn away from sin...to live a life like Jesus'...sinless....and as Christians we are "born again"...so theoretically...it is possible to live a sinless life. A Christian would by no means, under no circumstances, encourage somebody to commit such a sin! There are so many reasons i could post for Bush not being a Christian...but im guessing im going to get flamed enough for what ive already written. 2. People having a choice as to whether they get pregnant or not. Jamie, you obviously dont know too many people that have been raped, or you wouldn't have made the remark about pregnancy rarely occuring in rape victims. I only personally know two people that have been raped, one of them got pregnant....but i have heard, and seen solid evidence, of so many other cases of rape related pregnancies! Even if you didnt get pregnant from getting raped, there is not one single BC that is 100% reliable! Condoms, The Pill, both have something like a 97-98% success rate! What happens if you are in that 2-3% that it doesnt work for? And it isnt always human error that causes the BC to fail. As for abortion...everyone is forgetting the emotional side of abortion...even simply giving your child up for adoption! I havent personally experience pregnancy...let alone abortion or adoption...but i know people who have been through both (not one person going through both) and the emotional battle they fought was overwhelming....even from an outsiders point of view. The concept of not letting the life inside them amount to anything can be daunting, that life couldve turned out to be someone great, someone who changed the world! And adoption, can you imagine just giving up this child that you had a part in giving life to? This child that you carried with you for 9 months? There is no way in the world that would be an easy thing to do! Anyway...i guess thats my rant. I sincerely apologise if i was pushy about my religion...as i said before...i respect that other people have opinions, and im not going to make you change them. Thats all
