I'm just asking some of you guys if you think it's appropriate for the FFR devs to add a new division for the high-tier players (such as 95+ AAA equivalent). I know this has been thought of and debated over a lot, so maybe all it takes to make the push is for someone to see a lot of approval from the community.
edit: http://www.strawpoll.me/10902046 made this (ban me if links aren't allowed) Also, might I suggest (if anyone is interested and hasn't already seen it) reading this thread http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=145065 for a little bit of insight as well as some projections?

I don't think so. Not yet, at least. The number of people I'd actually consider to be so far out of everyone's league that they need an 8th division is in the single digits.

yes
d8 doesn't need to be big to exist d7 is like a solid 2 division gap I don't actually know because I'm not good yet but that sounds about right to me |

D7 is the pinnacle of FFR imo. What purpose would a D8 have? D7 players are categorized pretty much that they can do 89+ 10:1 (Probs exaggeration) PR ratio (with AAA's to boot)

Divisions should be removed
Alternatively if we keep them then yes D8 should probably exist Now if you'll excuse me apparently there's a Rhydon outside |

Really? I don't see the reason to even have a D8. Maybe it's a high D6, actual D7 thing.

And a "small" D8 is not a solution at all...we'd have a D8 with like 6 people in it? That 's not a division, that's a banlist.

The differential in skill between lowest D7 and highest D7 is more than twice (arguably approaching or exceeding thrice) as large as the differential between lowest D6 and highest D6.

I might be in the minority (at least in this thread) but I like divisions
It's responsible for a huge amount of the attention the Official Tournament gets, and allows things to be more relatable Like I understand how it can be seen as unfair in some respects but no D3 person is gonna come out of retirement to play in a divisionless Official |

Have 8 people in it and every round 1 gets eliminated.

The way the divisions are currently set up sort of looks like (to someone who had no hand in placements)
D5: 66-78 D6: 78-84 D7: 85-99, soon 85-120 Obviously it's not THAT linear but the D6 range is really small compared to both D5 and D7. Ignoring skillboosting after placements, I wouldn't automatically consider someone with a Mourning The Lost AAA that much better than someone with a Reality AAA but D5 has people with like 2 66 AAAs and then people who can AAA FN and Lolo in it (and then D7 is D7 lol). Yes I realize how hypocritical of me it is to say D5 is too broad in skill and how whiny it is to say that of D7 lol

Those aren't quite accurate, at least by leaderboard placements. The more accurate numbers are:
D5: 65-76 D6: 77-86 D7: 87+

Who got placed in D6 with either only up to a 77 AAA (and no comparable scores like low SDGs on 80s) or all the way up to an 85-86 AAA?
I got placed in D5 in 4 tournaments with one or two 77 AAAs and a handful of decent (like high SDG) scores on harder songs.
