D6 is ridiculously savage this time around - we've been getting easier songs relative to our skill level than anyone else, and the range of skill that the division encompasses just so happens to be that there's a bunch of people straddling the line between D6 and D7
(And also low D6 has gotten skewered with the skill gap between low and high D6) Also, I really don't think the D5 song is very difficult ._. It's more of a test of speed, and not really comparable to the D6 song. I sightread blackflagged the D5 song with lag, but couldn't really get over the awkwardness of Kanon, where speed simply isn't the issue Because Kanon's a bitch to whore I ended up playing harder songs (Hatsune Miku, SFS) and used Kanon as a rest file. Because the hard part's like 70% of the way through my arms were pretty much fine by then, and it made playing Kanon a lot more enjoyable and a lot less frustrating Last edited by MikeShinoda12345; 07-11-2016 at 02:16 AM.. |

woo boy, Stress Free Style is not my cup of tea. Sitting in 12th right now; gonna have to put some work into it on some more free time to get a bit higher up. This file definitely plays against my skillset, eek.

lol this is absurd, luck is playing such a massive role in whether or not I get to PA a file
FFR's been running like shit the vast majority of tourney time but the fact that it's inconsistently shit is even more frustrating...couldn't nail SFS after trying for like half an hour because frame staggering during a tech file is impossible to counter, so played a few other files for shits magically got what looked to be a completely lagless run on nuts, so immediately I go back to SFS thinking the lag cleaned up but nope fp is seizing again for comparison here's both nuts scores accuracies, first from last round and second from just now (drastically different despite me paying no attention to AA in either run)...was lagging pretty damn hard last round, and I'm starting to wonder if the dashboard has something to do with this ![]() ![]() Last edited by One Winged Angel; 07-11-2016 at 01:16 AM.. |

About that suggestion to merge d6 and d7 lolnope. I agree d5's song felt harder than d6's on my first play through but I can't be to analytical about that. D6 has been wierd easy short songs which I wish I could have competed harder on, d7 songs, and d7 players versus d6, and the song choices this tourney are incomprable, maybe a couple high d6 might do something in d7 but probably not really. D6 has been really easy and D6 is very strong and tight knit this year, its going to be sick to watch.

Am i crazy in thinking that amazing and perfect provide the same score?

Nope. Amazing is just there for people who want an -even more precise- scoring of their accuracy. "Perfect" is actually (correct me if I'm wrong) 3 frames worth of accuracy. The frame the arrow is actually on, and the frame before/after it. So an Amazing was added to show when you got it exactly on-frame.

It was originally 3 frames for a perfect, yeah. IIRC, on R^3, where the fps can be set to any value, the amazing and perfect windows are fixed time amounts (I assume 1/10 and 1/30 of a second). Last edited by qqwref; 07-11-2016 at 05:48 AM.. |

1: Pretty sure this is just a post because of anger but heck i'll respond to it anyway. Also you haven't given a reason why to cut out D6 so I'll have to guess one (in this case the players fault) 2: Cutting out d6 is a stupid idea and you know it. You blame the D6 players for trying to do well on their files? It's not the players fault they've gotten three pretty easy files. Nothing has been above a 81 so far imo. Diamante or Kanon would have been fine for the round 1 song, but not round 2+ At the moment its been fairly consistent for all three rounds, which shouldn't be happening. We should be seeing a 82/83 last round, and a 84/85 now (or possibly harder than this), but that hasn't happened. If anything, it's a result organisers of picking the wrong files for d6. However they may not have had a choice. maybe they had no other option and had to pick those files for the first three rounds, I don't know the answer to that. (This has now been addressed below) For the lower divisions, in particular d2/d3, they have been getting this difficulty progression perfectly. D6 is the only one to haven't really been getting this, so possibly waiting to get some more files within the d6 range would have been better. It also doesn't help that I don't think that Kanon in particular is the best file for a tournament, with a second half far harder than the first. (not as bad as system doctor was though) To reiterate this point: It's not the players fault, it's the files being too easy, and a lack of difficulty progression over the three rounds Quote:
For example, I think Kanon is an 80 and Stress Free Style is an 87/88, there's a pretty considerable difference between them don't you think? Or for perhaps a better comparison, take Love and Justice and Love Hurts. Similar jumpstream files, one rated 80 and the other 85, yet there is a clear difference between them which differentiates them. (In this case speed and overall intensity of the files) Oh and Hope you're joking there.

Objectively, Diamante Spectrasplosion is quite a bit more demanding in speed, whereas the densest/most objectively difficult parts of Carnaval cumulatively last for a substantially shorter amount of time. The extraneous parts outside of the main difficulty for both files differ quite a bit as well; you're mostly doing 8th notes or very basic 16th streams in Carnaval, whereas Diamante's patterns are laced with mini-jacks, mini-trill bursts, and some heavier layering. The reason that Kanon ended up as round 3 is because the jump from Diamante (given that you guys somehow found it easier) and what round 3 was (which is now a round later) was absolutely enormous. For those of you waiting for the file difficulties to step up in D6: you won't have to wait too much longer. It was a logical shift. You guys might not like it, but keep this in mind too: even at a difficulty of 79 for round 3 (and I think it's fair to give this Scarhand personally), this structure is still at least comparable to previous tournaments. Yeah, the goal was to make things harder - well, as I've said: you'll feel it next round, for sure. |

I think that's fair, and I don't think anyone would suggest carnaval/diamante is easier than the previous openers have been, but I think it's also worth noting that the parameters of D6 have shifted. D6 is a more skilled division than it used to be, and while it's difficult to predict every division's collective performance on eight different songs (especially when many players are coming back from retirement) it's kind of a given that the difficulty would be shifted up too.
Sorry this is probably really wordy I'm on mobile Edit: okay hopefully I make more sense now Last edited by MikeShinoda12345; 07-11-2016 at 11:32 AM.. |
