I think you're asking: How do you know which of the eight songs to play? When you asked, I wasn't 100% sure how to answer that, since this is kind of an experimental system, but...

I just ran the ranking points for all of my levelranks, and happily enough the score I was most proud of won me the most points. The song had a difficulty of 57, and I got 6 goods and 2 boos. I figure this is about normal for a D3 player like myself? Basically, you want to play close to your division's norm, but be sure to try a couple songs up or down, especially if the song you're playing is giving you trouble. (Maybe not as scary as you were expecting?)

The songs will be spaced about 10 levels of difficulty apart, and each round will introduce slightly harder songs, hopefully scanning across everyone's ideal difficulty.
