Default How come...

When someone makes something, he or she says that it's better than anyone's elses? So far I know, mostly everyone does it. They also congrats other's projects or crap because they just want to be polite. So tell me!

THIS POST IS BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE'S.

THOUGH, I HAVE TO SAY, YOUR POST WAS PRETTY GOOD KICKASSBUDDY.

Why do people say something that they have created is better than anyone else's? Because you need to pump people up, or else they won't care as much. Example:

A. "Hey guys, come on out to my art show though I'll be honest, it's not very good!"

vs.

B. "Hey guys, come on out to my art show! It's the best! Better than anyone else's art show EVER! I swear to f*cking God it is. I will stick this ice pick in my eye because my art show is just that awesome! Oh sh*t! I'm bleeding! Oh f*ck! MY ART SHOW IS F*CKING INSANE!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

Now, after reading those two examples, which one got you more pumped: A or B?

As Jewp was saying, Inorder to sell a product or have any attention brought to it once so ever, it has to be cool and the new thing and the best out there. I mean honostly If you were flipping channels and you saw a Mcdonalds comercial that said "well, Really we arent nearly as good as burgerking" Where would you go? I know i wouldnt go to mcdonalds.

It's just what I think, but in addition, someone says that their product is better than the others because the consumer often compare things in order to reach a decision about the purchase. Likely, they would choose the better product out of what's available.

Example: A company tries to sell paper towels. The company could just say that their paper towels are of higher quality and are thicker, but the consumer probably won't be convinced. However, if the company says that their paper towels are thicker and of higher quality than the current popular brand, the consumer will be more inclined to buy the company's brand of paper towels. Of course, the company's claim can't be an empty statement, though. They still have to prove it.

I read an article about this in Uncle John's Bathroom Reader... there are certain specific key words that they will use to make it sound like they're saying they're better, but if you actually examine the statement, they're not really saying anything.
