I don't quite understand that analogy, but alright if you say so. Theory<Earth being flat. Not sure if i should give you a pat on the back for that attempt at insulting me and ducking my direct question, or laugh at the fact that you're 26 years old and i'm 16 and you're more ignorant than the entire left wing. Anywho, heres your definition chap~

Theory: a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural and subject to experimentation, in contrast to well-established propositions that are regarded as reporting matters of actual fact. Synonyms: idea, notion hypothesis, postulate. Antonyms: practice, verification, corroboration, substantiation.

It's not a system. It is one single assertion (or denial): One does not believe in the existence of a deity or deities.

Additionally, I believe you have mistaken the words 'hypothesis' and 'theory', which is quite common.

Gravitation, evolution, and germs are also theories.

Alright, i'll leave it at that. I'm not looking for an argument, just a mature debate. You've been rather mature about this, i apologize for any hurtful words~ but the majority of the people in this community are quite bias, and automatically claim i'm a troll for bringing up the other possible views. Call me crazy, but that is a bit bias. I absolutely 100% respect all of your views, do i like them? No. That's human nature, we don't always agree. Doesn't mean we can't have a respectful debate once in a while.

That quote was initially in reference to Creationists, not atheists, lol.

Everyone should just sit down, enjoy a treat, and play some good ol' fashion Doom.

It'll calm the tension in the virtual air... maybe...

I have not declared if I am an atheist or theist, and I won't for the sake of argument.

F.Y.I. it's 'biased' not "bias", as an adjective.

If you wish to have a respectful debate, refrain from making such posts as:

"An athiest is one who rejects the notion of a deity or deities." As you said above. So tell me now, it's not a belief system then huh? Not looking for an argument, but i don't like ignorance.

Also, read Reincarnate's link about Poe's law. It's actually quite applicable in many internet arguments.

The reason i said what i said, is because atheism is clearly a belief lol. I mean it is come on man -_- not implying that you are an atheist, but atheists tend to believe exactly what you said, "An atheist is one who rejects the notion of a deity or deities." that just sort of annoyed me for you to tell me that wasn't a belief, didn't intend to disrespect you, though.

I would like to request the mods to lock this thread. All I asked was for you guys to tell me what you were giving up for Lent, but I guess the mere mention of a religious ritual will ignite sparks of atheism and argument.

For the record, I agree with Cavernio. I view the practice of giving up something for Lent as a respectful observance of the 40 days and nights Jesus spent in the desert. I do not mean to impose my beliefs on any of you, I was just asking my fellow Catholics what they were doing for Lent. For those of you who answered, thank you.

Now lock this thread.

I said it wasn't a religion.
I didn't say it wasn't a belief.
I also said it wasn't a belief system.

I see nothing wrong with Lent at all -- this thread was technically hijacked unfairly from the very start. :P
