My parents have been doing this for a few months now, and I just recently got into it (using their equipment hehu)
Most of you know I'm huge into 8/16bit art/games/music etc. This drew me in very quickly and is super awesome to do. My two first ones ![]() My most ambitious project, a little over 2 hours to make. Dynablade inspired template. ![]() Anyone else do this kind of stuff?

Hey Kommi! Nice to see someone else is into this too
The second one is really good, and given a little time you're gonna be making a ton of really cool stuff ![]() Got myself a round board the other day as I want to do some round stuff like Pokeballs and better MTG symbols. I've got something fairly large on the burner atm, but here's an example of a few things I've done... What kinda things do you have planned next? I'm guessing you'll have some RPG sprites on your mind? |

haha yesssss those are awesome.
RPG sprites are definitely in the forecast. I need to invest in boards to make larger decals. How did you make that huge slime? damn. also A Link to the Past medalions are awesome jfdlkajslkf I really want a Chrono pearler, as well as a mirror/chef kirby one. Probably pkmn trainer Red later on as well.

I don't know what kind of boards you have, but I've got about 20 or so square white ones that have bits to allow them to slot together to create bigger boards. I think the slime was spread over 6 as it wouldn't *quite* make 4. Amazon was the best place I could find to buy them, lots of people do packs of 4 quite cheap!
I can't wait to move out, I want a bit flat area to do them on so that I can work on the BIG pieces I want to do, as my desk can only have maybe a 4x2 board if I'm lucky. I'll try and get a pic of the other lttp things, I love the rods myself ![]() |

The boards we have do expand with each other. We currently have 4 29x29 boards. I guess you can get some transparent ones which would be cool.
The 2nd Kirby one took 2 boards side to side.

Everyone else I've seen who uses them seems to have transparent boards, I want some
But with 4 I think you'll be able to do most things for now. This is a really relaxing hobby though I find! Most stressful part is finding some of the colours of bead that you need XD I'm missing a blue that I need for some megaman and minecraft stuff. |

I spent 20 minutes looking for peach colored pearls since they were all in a 9000 pearl bucket lmao. rest were in color specific trays.
I don't see myself needing more than 4 boards though you're right.

lmao I started with one of those buckets. What a nightmare that was! Ran out of black so quickly and I was trying to finish the border to one of my pieces. Spent about 2 hours separating all of the colours since my local toyshop didn't stock black beads. Since then I've just piled a drawer full of individual packs of colours and got some little plastic things to sort them all individually XD
Have you seen some of the huge screenshots people have made? I'm tempted to do a shot from Link's Awakening, but I'd need a hellish amount of cream and minty green beads for that! |

toys r us here sells mostly buckets of all colors. the places that sell the individual colors are a little more pricey but a small bag will run you about 4 bucks or 3 euros

Generally looking at £1.25-£1.75 per bag of 1000 here, depending where you're buying from. Those boxes are cheap but I cba to sort out all the colours
![]() Anyways, a couple more photos. |

Now these are really cool. I would be interested doing something like this the next time I have that artistic crave.
Just need the supplies though. |

Are you using templates or are you just printing an image and mapping it out yourself? This looks fun, but I lack creativity to do it without a template.
