By the way, what do you guys think about 16th notes at 500 bpm? Not a lot of them, but short bursts of 5 at a time, combined with 8th note streams. I'd started a simfile to a song that would have those... but the song is kinda long so I'm not sure if I'll ever actually finish it. I tried to shorten it, but I couldn't decide what to cut to make it significantly shorter. I could only shorten it by about 30 seconds because I thought everything else was essential to the song, and I didn't think it was even worth it to butcher the song just to remove 30 seconds. The full song length is 4:22. |

You know what you must do, skor... When Gundam-Dude opens up submissions for FFR Community Pack Autumn 2012, you gotta send a file lol.

Even 8th notes at 500BPM are basically 16th notes at 250BPM lmao
It'll be a very hard file but that's fine |

Yeah, people have gotten crazy good at this game, 250 bpm stream is pretty easy nowadays.

Nice to see that Skor is still alive. I think I have all of your files, or almost all of them. I remember replacing some of the KBMP files with the full stepchart versions and yours were some that I replaced

omg the SM5 editor is pissing me off so much. When I was working on that new one yesterday, I sent the finished version to a friend, who uses 3.9, and the bpm and everything was completely wrong. I had to spend a long time figuring out what went wrong and fixing it all (it was because the bpm at the top of the .ssc file can be different from bpms used in each difficulty, but the saved .sm file only used the top bpm, which was wrong for some reason). And just now, I spent a good chunk of time starting something new, adding all the bpm changes for the entire song, and then I saved it. When I went back into the editor, everything was gone... I think I need to just use 3.9 to make the files.
Edit: Actually, after opening the file in 3.9's editor, everything I did is still there... Edit again: Is there any way to easily change the BPM in 3.9, or are the F7/F8 keys the only way to change it? Last edited by skorpion9x; 07-15-2012 at 10:47 PM.. |

SM5 is just too different. iirc they don't use .sm or .dwi files for saving notecharts. Just use 3.9

sm5 uses .sm files, not .dwi files. The only issue: If you use anything in your file that only works in sm5 (ie separate bpms for each chart, warps, fake notes, lift notes), it only shows up on the .ssc file.

I always start my files with a basic .dwi file which I create in notepad with the song information, just so it would show up in the editor. After that, I do everything in the SM editor. SM should then save everything I do in the editor to the .ssc and .sm files.

Thanks, skor - Your files are excellent. Emerald Sword is pretty much among the best files ever, IMO.

I haven't used it myself, but I've only heard bad things. the two tools most people use are sm3.9 and a separate program called DDReam Studio. there should be a thread or two detailing that program in this forum. anywho, the 3.9 editor should be a familiar friend
![]() F7/F8 is all I know of. remember that you can hold tab to greatly speed up the process or hold alt to make pinpoint adjustments. alternatively, you could make the changes manually using the text editor of your choice. |
