Seeing as there is a whole group of people that are too good for amateur, yet too bad for the regular thread, this thread seems kind of needed. If you fit into that category, feel free to post your scores here.

Sorry, but this is going to get /downed so hard. You're either in one or the other, you'll get over looked, but that's how it goes.

D2-4 players have no where to post their scores. That's three divisions. You're not one or the other. Way to keep the up and comings down.

There was already a huge debate on this some time ago. It was agreed by majority of the community that no more threads should be made. As is most people feel the amateur scores thread should be locked and everyone should just post in the FFR scores thread.

But who was the majority of the people, and if the amateur esc people posted in the regular FFR scores thread, they'd get overlooked. What ever, feel free to lock the thread if you wish.

How do you figure this? Amateur goes up to 9's which means regular thread is 10s, 11s, 12s and I guess if you want to say 13s since they barely exist. The Amateur thread covers more than half the difficulties in game. Quote:
People post good scores on 12s in the other thread and they go overlooked. It's going to happen. I've even seen scores go overlooked in the amateur thread. There's no reason to have a ton of threads floating around for scores. EDIT: I'm just reiterating what already happened with a debate on this. The majority said there should be no other thread made and all it did was make for a huge derail fest for a good while. I'm fairly certain all that's going to happen in this thread is people saying why it shouldn't exist. But I'll leave it open for now.

The regular FFR scores thread seems to be a good place to post scores. People see your scores even if you are getting like 20-0-102-302 etc on something like Novo.
(HOW DID THAT SCORE NOT GET AVGs?! :O) |

The amateur thread ranges from 1-9 though so what would this thread range from? In my eyes, if you can AAA at least one FMO then you are considered a FFR Pro so I am guessing that this thread will range from 10 to 11 and you graduate from this forum once you get your first FMO AAA or something. Not sure how that would work though because I doubt that anyone would want to check someone's stats just to see if they AAAed a FMO or not. I do not think that this thread is need but that is up to the staff.

Well part of the issue is that our scores get buried in the sheer number of posts, and we'd really just like to be able to see how each person is progressing. We made our own 'social group' on the site, but you cant post pictures except from a link and replay codes dont work there either. Is there any way we can make the coding work to upload pics to those discussions straight from our computer or allow for replay codes? Either would work.

I just feel that nobody really cares if you get FCs on 11s or 12s in the regular thread. It really feels like only top tier D5 and D6 people can post in it and people recognize it, plus the drama in amateur thread just gave me the idea to make this. To be honest, I see no downside to this because it equals out. Maybe to some people, the regular FFR brag thread seems like a good place for every score, but most people I see posting there are as I said, top tier D5 and D6 people. Going from that consensious, it seems unfair that the people AAAing 1-9s get their own thread, and the people AAAing fmo+s get their own thread. That may not be the point of the main thread, but it's [in my eyes] what it comes down to.

Score threads can be partitioned into however many subdivisions you feel is necessary, but eventually the same issues will always arise regarding score recognition. You can make a thread for each difficulty and people will still complain about not being recognized. The problem isn't going to be solved by dividing scores into more threads.
The only way to "fix" this is to raise awareness throughout the community to behave more appropriately. Part of making a community that feels more welcoming is acknowledgment. All that stuff takes time and is pretty much the only way to mend social irregularities. Even then, this is the internet. You shouldn't -expect- recognition. ^ ------- +1 (bmah, in case I get ninja'd)
We still should get the social group section to run more like the actual forums though, if it's not to hard to code =) *Begs Velo* The social group section is really out of date anyways, and it's really hard to find, no wonder hardly anyone uses it. It would help out though. |

This thread would be 9-10 AAAs, because as psychoangel said, AAAing 9s is hardly amateur. 11-12 FCs, and 11 SDGs. I would call that the line for posting in this thread.

This thread isn't needed whatsoever; it's just another way to segregate parts of the community and to promote elitism.
Not to mention, it's just going to get a bunch of people who end up doing well on 11s/12s and then the whole argument of people not belonging in the thread starts again, etc. If you can AAA 9s and 10s, you should be posting in the FFR scores thread, no excuses. Personally, I'd like to see this thread locked. If newer/intermediate players would like a safe haven to post (i.e. Amateur Scores thread), that's fine. It'll help them build confidence as they move up within the ranks of that thread. But having people who are probably better than a good majority of the community (note: not just forum members) take up a thread is absurd. EDIT: I'd also like to add - most of the people posting in the amateur scores thread aren't amateurs - AAAs on 8s/9s, SDGs on 10s, halfway decent scores on 11s... etc. I don't condone the current usage of the amateur scores thread, at all. Then this thread is only for 2 levels of AAA's one of which is already covered by the other thread technically. Then the normal ffr scores thread is just for FMO and FGO AAA's or super good scores since not many can AAA 12s. So what about all the newbies that the amateur thread was originally made for? They're completely overshadowed in there. Everyone wants to talk about fairness but it's never really a fair balance is it? I actually feel like this is all going to become more confusing than anything for users that aren't around so much or are new to the forum. |

This isn't elitism, the point is I see there being a group of players who have no where to post their scores. Lock the thread if you want, don't really care.
