Default Photography tryout (somewhat image intensive)

Kind of just started photography the non-pointnshoot type anyway.
Need some interesting ideas. Feels like mine lack subject most of the time. The only time when I can maybe feel like I know what I am doing is probably the post processing, but that doesnt really help without a decent picture. Takes a bunch of photos to find a decent one lol.

Taken in kitchen

Taken on cat tower

Taken at school, bad processing, 4-5 shots

This one I didn't know what to do with. Taken while driving in vegas lol.

These are with a bit less postprocessing

I guess this is where the f/2.8 and f/4.5 differs lol

more

Try random macro shots? I like that last picture; has an interesting vibe to it

I'd start playing with the basics first-- get a feel for the ways subjects focus with different apertures-- F/8.0 is my ideal one, or 5.6, depends what I'm shooting. In combination, toy with the shutter speeds, because I think with a faster shutter speed you would have gotten a sharper picture of the cat. It's not exactly sharp where it's focused in on.

Keep it up, photography is ace 8) and I really like that waterdroplet pic.

Posted some more, I think I might wanna try a bit of manual focus. Now I kind of understand why people pay for the extra points on the 7D

Why F/8.0 doesn't F/lower makes it more focused. Tried out some of the new ones with higher shutter speed. Chromatic aberration and Noise orz

Very nice. Also, I added a spoiler tag to your images since they were stretching the page.

What kind of a camera do you have? Of course having a 7D would be lovely (oh yeah ;- but I'm able to take some remarkably sharp shots with my T1i. Then again I have a 600 dollar lens stuck in it, may have something to do with it.

Usually I have to play around with the way the lighting is, if it's at all dark, then even with F/8.0 it'll go blurry/noisy :/ that's why I'm using TV (shutter speed) mode more often; while I don't have as much control over the depth of field, as long as I find a focus point manually I can always get sharp images and layer different areas of focus on photoshop later if I wish.

Generally for me this all applies on a Macro scale... that's basically all I ever take 3:

Keep up the good work.

I am using a t2i with the two 'kit' lenses 18-55 and 50-350mm canon with IS can't say I am not happy with them but there are a few spots that bug me. I shoot in AV most of the time. Rarely ever use TV if I need to play with the shutter speed I just go to manual for it. Definitely the t1-3i s take very sharp images and have very nice color reproduction as well. Which lens do you go with?

How is the t2i for video? Does it record 30fps or 60? Interlaced or progressive?

Honestly the only one I like is the cat photo. Good focal point and depth of field. The other ones just lack emotion =/

Ye, that's what i've been practicing more with my macro lens

@Renevatia: I have this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...USM_Macro.html

Love love love this lens. Only my second one, of many most likely, but really like playing with it.

Just as an example, took this a few days ago

And as for TV mode, I suggest you play with it more. I got this picture out of it, and while the aperture was low because I wasn't in full control of it like in AV mode, it really added to it.

Just a recent example, I don't mean to self advertise D:

As of right now I only have f/4 and f/4.5 lenses. Taking macros with a full 250mm zoom makes me feel stupid sometimes lol.

It records at 24 and 30fps on full 1080p with lower res it goes up to 60.

@Spenner nice lens f/2.8 at 100mm is delicious and that looks surprisingly crisp.

EDIT: tried out some shots tho it looks like its just about 2x the min focus distance of the f/2.8 tho.
