The graininess really offsets it's aesthetic appeal; it's a bit overdone in that sense.
The pussy looks pretty good, it's just really pixelated and the right ear looks like some polys are sticking out sharply. On another note, the reflection environment seems to be working quite well for the head of it and the curvy metal piece under the ear to the right, but it doesn't match with the rest of the metal. See how on the hands the reflection is just like a linear gradient? I forget how to fix it but it really would improve the look a lot more if you could just get that reflection environment working solidly throughout it; it would certainly increase the realism substantially.

Well, I rendered it with ultra high settings and all, and it actually came out worse...not to mention the blue hue I made the water was way too deep, so I didn't even save that render.
I just fixed the ear, smoothed it out, I'm gonna try and do something about the frontmost paw and it's reflections, as well as dampen the DoF. See if that works ok. Thanks for all the input again.

I like it now, it's good, I'm not sure why the ear reflects green but it's good. I'm also quite sure you'd have to make the water ridicolously unrealistic to get it viewable in a render..

This is the final render, minor touch ups in photoshop, but I'm satisfied with it. The ear reflects green cause there's something green off camera, you can see it in nearly all of the reflections, I agree it is a bit much though, but it leaves you to think of what could be over there or something. Added a table, made the kitty smiling (big improvement with something so small, gave the piece much more feeling/emotion imo)
Shopped the fish, the slight red glow around the eyes, gaussian'd the background to reduce some grain, as well as minor blur and sharpen effects here and there. Final. ![]() and here's the one you requested mythix, no DoF. ![]() Just looks too basic, and If I were to get rid of those DoF settings, obviously would have made better gravel lol. Some reason the fish didn't render right in this shot though, but oh well. Wire/materials etc. ![]()

You should try some interior design type settings, they always look neat, and it'll be good practice getting the lighting reflecting off certain textures just right (if you're going for realism, which you should be).

My idea: A penguin standing at a cliff of snow at night during Christmas time looking out over a snowy city with Christmas lights and smoke coming from houses and the such. Creates a nice Christmas scene to get into the spirit and could really be some nice perspective/detail work. Maybe you could use some new techniques or incorporate some new stuff into it as well.
And that concludes my idea. |
