We designed characters for gamedesign, and they had to be sort of simple cause we were gonna model them in clay.
And after we made our character we learned how to color them in with photoshop at Art & Design class. This is how it turned out. (I haven't made a scene for my character yet so it's just a simple background.)![]() Some characteristics so you'd understand the character a bit more. He's a warlord with a bad temper, and when something doesn't go his way he gets very worked up and acts a bit like a kid (imagine jumping around and steam coming from his uh.. helmet.. :l) He's tiny so he gets picked on by other warlords which makes him angry as well etc. Here it is without a background. The background was only to bring out some details like the red glow where the shadows are, which are barely noticable on a clear white background. ![]() constructive criticism is always welcome.

I do like a lot. A couple of little things I notice: It's right arm (from it's perspective of course) is looking slightly off- the armour plate is directed slightly forwards yet the arm appears to be in a direction towards the behind of the armor, so it makes the shoulder look broken almost. Another thing I see that isn't really big is the hand holding the weapon- the fingers seem a little high on the hand, giving it a look of a weaker grip, and the pole almost looks like it's going through the topmost finger because the angle of the grip doesn't exactly match that of the pole it's gripping.
My solution for the arm perspective being off would either be to redraw the armor plate so it's tilted back with the arm- otherwise you'd have to redraw the arm to be aligned with the plate. One final thing: the thigh of it's right leg isn't aligned with the lower leg so it looks a little hyper extended to the outside, if you know what I mean. Please don't take my overly-analytical criticism as anything harsh towards your design, it's very good no matter what I say ![]() EDIT I forgot, your temporary background is gay hurry up and make an awesome one.

Nothing.

Spenner, it's a game design class, he's going to be modeling this in clay, and probably 3d, so yes, he should take that criticism and put it to use, just not on this drawing, save it for the real models. Otherwise good work Spit.

I appreciate any criticism, as long as it's not senseless flaming or "it sucks" comments etc. so thanks Spenner.
![]() And yeah, the arm was weird imo as well, I'll have to fix it. And the right leg could be moved up a bit I guess, although I was trying to create a little bit of perspective. I see your point though. Hands are still a weakpoint of mine. T_T Gotta practice hands more, but luckily summer vacation is soon. ![]() Quote:
we are gonna model it in 3d, but that's for next year and a different subject as well. :P

He's pretty nicely designed, although there may be a balance flaw. If his lower half is gonna be much slower, he may fall down alot, so I suggest you either make his top half smaller or lower half bigger to balance him out.
Trust me, some action figures used to suck because of this. |

Then again it's clearly a caricature, so I wouldn't worry too too much about it, but I do see a downside to that if you were indeed to clay model it. Great stuff Spitty.
