I'm very conscious of this common truth, and I, for one, am also very skeptical to a majority of the "truths" of science. It's no more true to beleive the explanation of what atomic particles are and do, and how the earth came to be, than any religious theory. Science is what christianity used to be: the generally accepted theory. Now some people blend the two. I just accept there's some things we don't know, and can't reason, no matter how strong the need for an explanation may be.

Here's a good quote:
Quote:
Don't pray in my school, I won't think in your church.
I find it funny. That said, I think I have to change my views on religion a little bit. I used to be very anti-religion, claiming that it was simply ignorance to accept the fact that we really don't know the big answers to the big questions. I still think that, but not in a cynical manner anymore. I believe that those who have faith truely believe that there is a God, he is watching over us, and they will do whatever they can to please him.

There are two kinds of people in this world. The ones that believe, and the ones that don't. The non believers are scared that somebody is taking control of their life and destiny. The believers are scared that somebody isn't. It's just two ends of a spectrum. I think that more than a literal being that sits up in the clouds and takes care of us, God is more a metaphor for a...shephard, if you will, continually watching over the human race. And that is why believers believe.

I can't say anything about the non-believers or even the believers. I can only speak for myself. I'm not particularly religious, but I do believe in God, but I am not so desperate for hope that I just believe. I believe because I choose to believe. I didn't go to Church or Sunday School when I was younger. I wasn't Brain-washed. (in which I kinda agree with everyone who said that the churches and such do brain-wash kids, but it's some what more of a shove in a certain direction) I'm not exactly sure why I believe. And I'm sure that even if I didn't, I wouldn't feel insecure. I just...believe. I don't think God is completely in control of my Life and Destiny. I believe that I'm here because he wants me here, and I'm supposed to do whatever I'm supposed to do. To some extent, Yes, I believe that I am here to do what he wants me to, but not like some slave.

Just my thoughts

This is exactly what I am saying. You have found faith by your own path, and it has helped you develop yourself as a person. I think spirituality is a good thing for every person to have, but they should find it by themselves instead of having it indoctronated into them at a young age. I think it cheapens the experience. Keep your options open at a young age, and narrow in on what makes you happy.
