Lightbulb Pure nothingness.

Well, If our Galaxy ever does end, there has to be something past it. It would most chancess be pure nothingness. It may not be there but if there was any place with nothing at all. What would you see? There are 2 things..

-PURE BLACK
or
-Nothing

Nothing is a hard to explain choice. It is unthinkable. It is not a color. You think, If I'm in the dark and there's nothing at all, it's gonna be black. Well there would be no light, gamma rays, nothing at all. So what would you see? I think it's either, if you entered a area of pure nothingness, you wouldn't be able to see, simply because you'd vanish into nothing. I'm not that smart though, so don't flame me. I'm only 13. What do you think about this whole thing?

You would see nothing as you can only see things when light is present to reflect off of things and to your eyes. Black is just when an object absorbs all of the colors of light so it looks that way.

You said "you would see nothing." What would that look like? If you opened your eyes what would happen =\.
PS: Why are our post going backwards, the thread post is on the bottom.

This "nothing" is the same thing you'd see with your eyes closed. You couldn't really tell very easily if they were even open or closed.

And you can fix that in user cp.

If you closed your eyes, even in nothingness, I think you'd be able to see your eyelids.

But it's tough to explain. Maybe you really wouldn't see anything at all if there's no light.

But personally, I don't think there is any place which contains "nothing."

Yep, everywhere you go, there will always be something.

The concept of nothing is when you observe an absence of presence. Of light, objects, color, etc. The point is, you could look at a blank white wall and say you are seeing "nothing" when you are actually just perceiving a lack of presence of anything worth seeing while someone else will say that they SEE a solid white object. In this instance, the CONCEPT of nothingness comes from perception. Therefore someone could always point out something in the "nothingness" you describe with our vast ways of classification. That is why i think the concept of having 'absolute nothing' is impossible.

When he says "Galaxy" I think he means Universe. Going to the theory of the Big Bang, where there was "nothing" for an eternity of time and then suddenly an explosion of matter which created the Universe, I think it is acceptably to say there is pure nothingness. The theory states the Universe was created from nothing, and it will eventually end as nothing.

IMO, I think our minds are too weak, too feasible, to understand the presence of "nothing." Before we were even born, back to your mothers and fathers, you were "nothing." Our lives exist in a world filled with "somethings" always. "Nothing" can only be understood if we have...existed...in nothingness. And that idea, existence in "nothing," is beyond our human capabilities.
