How will this world end? Who knows? A few months ago, several sky observers almost made a call to the President, concerned about a giant asteroid that was going to strike earth. The size of this was large enough to cause major damage. Luckily, one observer found that it had a 25% chance of hitting us, so the call was never made. I dont see an end coming too soon. Sure, someone could go nuke crazy, but i doubt it would destroy the whole world. Maybe a continent, but not the whole world. Next to an epidemic plague, the only other end i can see is the sun's expansion. I dont know how many millions or billions of years it would take, but eventully it will get close enough to bake us away, and after that, engulf this planet. Maybe the Apacolypse(spelling?) will do it, but im not one to believe...

Nah, we're gonna kill each other, guaranteed. No gay force of nature, or some spacial anomoly is gonna do us in. Someone's gonna get mad, hit the "Lauch Missle" button, and it'll start a chain reaction. Everyone will die from explosions, or in a Nuclear winter. And if you're lucky enough to survive, you'll have like 3 eyes or something.

There are more than enough nukes to destroy the world ten times over. And I think it is human nature to destroy.
And dont worry about the sun exploding....we are at the half way point of its estimated lifespan. The sun will exist long after humans kill each other off. |

Actually, during Viet Nam war, USA had enough firepower to destroy the whole Earth 200 times.

I think the Earth itself will survive until the Sun explodes.
It is Mankind that will not last long. |

There is a site that collects information about the many ways that the end of the world may happen. It's address is www.xs4all.nl/~mke/exitmundi.htm but it has been down all day. It includes problems that mankind creates, scientific ways, and even religious ways.

i think it'd be pretty neat to find out that the world was already destroyed once before. well, the human world, that is. just think about it. if the Cold War had turned hot and all those nukes went crazy, it would have been easy to eliminate all traces of human existance. the only survivors would be those on small, insignificant or undiscovered islands. they would eventually repopulate the Earth until we advanced to the nuclear age again. maybe thats the cause of at least one mass extinction, idunno. probably didnt happen, but would be interesting.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |

Heh...well i guess it seemed as i was worried...not at all...i was jsut curious as to what you all think....ive enjoyed this topic! But i would like the world to end in a way no one could comprehend...that means no one would know how or why, and you cant speculate ideas such as the earth just dissappears, cause then you would be able to comprehend it...:P

I was just playing the game and this topic came to mind. I found the answer. When you die that's the end of the world for YOU. Think about it for a moment, almost if not all religions believe that you are going to a better place somehow.

I think the run away greenhouse effect is probably a very logical way for the world to end. We're just so close with the rag (haha awesome acronym).
World end scenerios have always been somewhat of a hobbie with me.. they're just so interesting. lol
