Default What happens when you die?

Alright, Now i'm sure this post has come up before, but i felt like stirring it up again.

I know people are gonna use their religious beliefs in this post, and by all means, its allowed. Just if you're gonna say something like "you go to heaven" or "You go to some better place", EXPLAIN this better place. You know you've thought about what a better place would be like, so tell us.

There's always the good old reincarnation belief, or the "nothingness" belief, so what's yours?

Personally, I'm confused. I WANT to believe that i'm going to go to heaven, like my religion tells me, and i will live eternally in pure happiness with god. But sometimes i think, "how is that possible?" I mean, basically i question my faith. During those times i tend to think that you either are reincarnated, or you take what you've learned from this life, and bring it to the next, which is in a whole different state of being. And if you have unfinished business, you stay behind as a ghost, to finish it. That's only when i'm questioning my faith though.

Anyways, in MY heaven, you can do anything you want basically. But the coolest part about it is that there's a room, and before you enter this room, you think of a specific date from your life. When you enter the room, you will wake up, and live that day of your life. Tell me that wouldn't be awesome! There's also the usual: Parties all the time, lots of beautiful people, everyone loves everyone, you're always in a climate that makes you feel comfortable, etc. Basically heaven is just your own perception of perfection. Okay, those last three words sounded kinda cool.... haha.

YES! Time to tell people mine! xObserveRx, before I start, I'd like to give you some advice. Think about all your possabilities first. Think of Heaven, Hell, Pergatory, what ever. And what you most believe in in each one, if anything, meld into one thing. And THAT's what might happen when you die.

Excuse me if I'm too graphic for anyone. This is just what I think might happen when I kick the bucket. But anyway, my belief when I die is this:

BOOM! DEATH! The spirit leaves the body at the moment of death when the last breath is taken. The spirit is in Pergatory. The spiritual plain of the Earth. You can go anywhere you wish, do anything you want, just that you are stuck there for ten years. Once the ten years are up, you can attempt to try Earth again. (hence reincarnation) If you do, you are born again as something else, but have no memory of anything of your first life.
If you stay in pergatory, it's forever. Here, it's like the Bible's heaven, but not total perfection. You get anything you desire or dream of while you are alive. You can still feel pain, sorrow, and anger. Just that there is no escape from pergatory after you decide to stay. Also, evil spirits live in pergatory too. But they have boundaries. You go in to their house, you ain't comin' out of it.
In other words, Pergatory is a lot like Earth but on the spiritual side. And this is what I think. That we all go to pergatory and live there until we wish to leave at the ten year minimum.

When you die, you become dead.

That's all I know, and can safely stand by as truth.

What I have come to believe, thinking of it on my very own, is that when you die, you instantly become somthing else. Like a baby. Or even a baby whale or a baby bird in an egg or somthing. It's not a very good theory but I am also thinking that you just endlessly sleep. It is complete blackness when you die. I have always been led to believe that there is no heaven or hell. Outside of this earth is space with a bunch of stars and more planets, outside of planets and space is galaxys which contain space, stars and planets. Although outside of the galaxys I believe it is just all black. Just plain, black space, nothing there. Unless it continuesly goes on and on with galaxys outside of galaxys.

There is no "truth" to death. You don't know if you become dead after you die. You could be still alive but in another body now. You could have done somthing maybe your spirit or somthing of that sort stays floating around where you "died". Are you the spirit? You never know. You could be a little ball of gas but that doesn't mean your dead, does it?

Pi.

Your body decomposes and returns to the Earth, which in return feeds the plants that grow, which feeds the animals, which feeds other humans, who die and return to the Earth etc.

Death is just an endless cycle, like the water cycle. It never ends, thus, Pi.

Pi isn't the only number that never ends...

This is what I've come up with this based on all things related that are reasonable and realistic.

When you die, you'll be gone. Nothing. Blank. You won't be conscious anymore. People will forget your name. And life will go on for anyone not dead.

Isn't that scary? Pretty much everything you've ever thought, imagined, said, done is gone. Humans, in fear of their fate, make up religions to comfort themselves. It's natural. But from a realistic standpoint, we're all screwed, so if you like somebody, tell them. For all you know, tomorrow you could be gone... forever, and that's a long time.

No offense intended to those religious.

mentally, you'll never perceive death. if anybody has ever seen the movie Waking Life, you know what i mean. (IF YOU HAVENT SEEN IT AND PLAN TO, SKIP TO THE NEXT PARAGRAPH!!!!) basically, the guy is hit by a car and then he goes into a continuous dream state. the dreams are streamed together endlessly, it seems. he thinks he wakes up, but it's always waking into another dream. there are alot of crazy ideas and things in the dream, and i cant remember all of them. basically, at the end, a dream character says that u just have to let go and accept death to stop the cycle of dreams. thus, when u die, in that last millisecond that your brain is still active, u will have what appears to u as an endless cycle of dreams. therefore, even atheists and people who think nothing will happen will have some sort of "life" after death. also, since u get whatever u want in your dreams, it would be a perfect "heaven" of sorts.

but yeah, everybody talks about heaven and what it'll be like, but very few mention what hell would be like. i have my thoughts about hell, which are mostly based on what i would do if i were satan. in hell, i think people will have to suffer through the things they hate most for all eternity. thus, if you like fire, you're not gonna burn in hell, but u might have constant frostbite. so, for example, if you've always been scared to death of clowns and gay people, and you always hated anal sex and loud boy band music, then hell for you would be being bum-raped by gay clowns while Backstreet Boys plays REALLY LOUD in your ears. now THAT sounds alot worse than being burned forever.

When you die, your organs shut down, your blood stops to flow, brain activity stops, then they burry you in the ground, and you decompose.

My thoughts as a Christian:
When you die, your soul escapes and goes to either heaven or hell, depending if you believe or not.
All I know about heaven is it is a wonderful place and you will have a good time for eternity, praising God, doing all that stuff. If you don't like God and you don't want to praise Him, what's the point of going to heaven?
Hell is torture, I don't know much about that either.

I say why should we try to know what places are exactly like that we can't even comprehend well and we don't have much info on?
I'm waiting to get there to really know what it's like.

Whatever happens after death no one knows. You can't just make up a fact about death with every resource in the world. You can only have an opinion about death but never a fact. Those who know what happens after death are already dead.So you can only state a fact of what happens after death when you die.Until then, find something to believe in about death before you lifetime has withered away because then you will be able to take the enormous surprise after you die.

That is the only reason you believe. You are afraid.
Believe! or go to hell... a bad place with a scary guy with horns. But if you believe, you will go to the most beautiful and wonderful place with a really nice guy that loves all of us... and we will live happily ever after.

Seriously, is doubting some story some guy told you so bad that you'll have to burn in hell for eternity for it?

I just can't beleive there is nothing after death. I mean ...it can't just go BOOM and then all black, or your life dissapears and there is nothing. I can't imagine that in anyway. I would like to beleive that we have lived many lives, but we just don't remember, and when we die, it all comes back into our "minds", but since i don't really beleive in God, I think its kinda impossible.

But think about it. Lets say u got shot by some maniac. U die. BOOM. And then, there is a total blackout. You don't breath anymore, you don't live, you don't eat, you don't drink or anything. Its just black (or white). But if your "soul" dissapears, what does it become? And what is it like to be inexistant? And lets say your soul survives. Where does it go? To Heaven? Yeah sure, but what is Heaven? Some kind of dream? What is it really made of? Atoms, or nothing existing on earth? And what if you don't go to Heaven? How could the memory of other lives could be stocked inside your brain or whatever if you reincarnate? Would you be a Ghost, and could be only seen by opther Ghosts?

Thats a lot of questions.

Unfortunately, no one on earth can answer them.

I wish we could.

But even if we could, would we really want to know what is after death?
Some people say you go up up up...towards the sky, defiying gravity. Other people say you see your entire life just like a movie.

Just tthink about it.

Imagine that you are a paperclip.

Now imagine that paperclip on your desk.

Now imagine that there is no paperclip on your desk... or anywhere for that matter.

Way to alter my post.
I do not believe because I am afraid, I believe because I want to. You may not believe the same. Your version of the story is messed too.

That's why I think religion is a waste of time and money.

Pathetic. Then you ARE afraid to die. Make up your mind.

I am definitely not afraid of death. I am not pathetic. I have no need to make up my mind.

One thing I have always wondered is why does it matter what happens after death? Whether it be hell or heaven, oblivion or reincarnation, whatever, that's a totally different person who is no longer you. Why would actions to someone else that may or may not happen sometime in the unknown future when the person is totally responsible for whatever they feel affect how you, the person who never has to suffer the consequences of your actions in an afterlife because only dead-you will be there for that. To make it a bit clearer: why should I personally care about what happens to me after the barrier of death? I won't be the one suffering, nor will any other human being or person I should feel compassion for. So why should I change my actions according to that?
