Islamic view: I'm going to hell.
Catholic view: Just stay faithful, and you have better chances of going to heaven.
Godaholics: Why don't you go to church? Just to go to work or get schoolwork done? DO YOU NOT HAVE FAITH IN THE LORD!!??
Most Protestants: I really don't care where you're going.
My view: If I trust in the Lord, I will go to those pearly gates.
My view when I've got heavy decongestants in my blood: YEEAHHH!!! I'M GOING TO HELL!!!!!

Even blind people who have been blind their whole life, have these and for the first time actually see when they are clinically dead. "clinically dead," i mean that the brain is totally dead and the body has stopped working, there is usually about a 30 minute window where there is a slight chance for a restart. anyways, i strongly suggest the book based on seeing your views.
Oh my goodness! Such an amazing book! I haven't read it, but I've seen excepts from it, and I want to read it very much. While I cannot remember word for word what was in the book, here is a basic overview of one of the more interesting chapters.

A doctor had an appointment with a patient for an heart stress test. He had the patient on a treadmill, and he was beginning to walk, when suddenly his heart completely failed. He took two more breaths, and died. The doctor and nurses immediately began CPR. The heart, however, would not begin beating on its own, and it was obvious the patient needed a pacemaker. The patient woke up for a moment with a contorted face and dilated pupils. He began to scream "I'm in Hell! Don't stop, keep me away from there!" The doctor, frightened, stopped CPR. The patient stopped breathing and fell dead again. The doctor immediately resumed CPR. He was bewildered, as usually a patient, upon coming back to life, would yell for the doctor to stop, as he would likely have a broken rib or two, but the doctor could see that he had been suffering far worse than a few broken ribs could ever account for. After four more such deaths and revivals, the patient asked the doctor to pray for him. The doctor had been a stoic atheist until that time, but he knew that this person needed prayer. He prayed, and had the man repeat after him, "Lord Jesus, forgive this man. If he dies, allow him into Heaven, and if he lives, he will dedicate his life to you." The man soon after stayed alive and was taken to a hospital.

The next day, the doctor came to interview the patient. He said, "When you were in Hell, what did you see? Flames? Did you see Satan?" The man replied, "What do you mean? I wasn't in Hell." The memories had been so painful and so vivid that his mind had literally purged them, or at least tucked them away deep inside. The man, however, remains a solid Christian to this day.

People probably see tunnels because of years of constant slavery of the mind. What powerful people say can also contort the minds thoughts.

I love your avatar TK_yesillkillubitchboez, it is immensely cool...

will edit shortly once ive actually read the topic...

As I think I said ages ago in the same topic, I believe we either go to heaven or hell, in fact purebloodtexan, I think I'm a mixture of your stereotypes, I share your view, but I'm also a protestant but I could also be called a bit of a Godaholic... although your version of a Godaholic isn't very cool, I'm a cool Godaholic... I also overuse (...) far too much for my own good

hahaha, im doing a report on afterlife and paranormal activity, this forum can be one of my sources (opinionated of course).

i believe its a mix of what many different religions believe. I interpret hinduism to be my favorite though Lots of spiritual stuff, 7 regions of hell, then earth(physical), then nether which is not heaven or hell, then 5 regions of heaven. Its hard to explain, but its fun to read and think about. spiritualism...

Does this afterlife that everyone's mentioning apply only to humans? Kinda curious to know the details of this "place".

I agree with Reach, btw.

Ugh. The word "theory". Stop using it. Because you are asking for beliefs, not the scientific definition of theory. This is a big reason why people consider scientific theories as beliefs or guesses, when they are actually fact.

In common usage, people often use the word theory to signify a conjecture, an opinion, or a speculation.
In science, a theory is a mathematical description, a logical explanation, a verified hypothesis, or a proven model...

Please, don't use the word theory when it concerns religion. Religion != theory. It's a belief. There is zero scientific evidence. It's only backed by beliefs and what is passed down generation after generation.

NDE visions are just hallucinations, nothing more. They aren't "experiencing afterlife". If I was told I'd be a rabbit who swims the ocean after I die, whether I believed it or not, as long as it was somewhere in my head, my brain may hallucinate that during an NDE.

As for the topic, what is my afterlife belief? Nothing. I do not believe in any afterlife, as I know it's impossible. I go by theories. I'll rot in the ground and wiped away from existance.

Well, for me, I don't believe in God, I believe in reincarnation. I like the idea of being some other creature in another life... I don't know, I like the idea that my soul might actually drift off to another planet. Since I'm dead, it really won't matter how long it takes. After all, I have "eternity". Then maybe I'll settle down with some form of lower bacteria...

Cremation is my way to go, by the way.

Im really concered for you guys who say "hell sounds great". Im praying for yall.
I believe what your saying but once we die we dont just wonder around.
once our souls are out of this body(we die), we are present with the Lord. To be judged on what we've done( say if you believe in the Lord you will be judged on what your actoins were((doesnt mean you go to hell)))

In all seriousness, I would like to believe that when you die, you reincarnate as something you wanted to be in the life before. But, well, what I really believe(mainly) is that when you die, you're dead. There's nothing else. You're just dead and gone.

I read Inferno, and it isn't at all believable.

You actually believe that the interior of the earth has a gigantic hollowed out crater in it where an exponentially increasing number of souls are tortured for eternity? And at the center of the earth, where the pressure of the earth is centered, creating unheard of levels of heat, is a frozen lake where a fallen angel with three heads chews on the souls of Judas, Brutus, and Cassius?

You believe that the massive amount of earth removed from the inside of the planet to make that huge hole was placed on the surface of the Earth (about where California is) to make the mountain of purgatory?

Really doesn't seem believable to me, but believe what you want.

As to my own beliefs, if you believe in the whole heaven/hell shtick, that's your prerogative. I would talk further about my beliefs involving the Bible, but that would just be inducing a flame war (which I'm fairly certain could get me banned) and no one seems to understand that one person having beliefs isn't an attack on another's beliefs. I believe that when you die, it sucks, and you have as much consciousness as you did before conception, meaning none.
