Default Betrayal in War

Here's a quote from Howard Zinn:

As the government pours hundreds of billions into war, it has no money to take care of the Vietnam veterans who are homeless, who linger in VA hospitals, who suffer from mental disorders, and who commit suicide in shocking numbers. It is a bitter legacy.
The United States government was proud that, although perhaps 100,000 Iraqis had died in the Gulf War of 1991, there were only 148 American battle casualties. What it has concealed from the public is that 206,000 veterans of that war filed claims with the Veterans Administration for injuries and illnesses. In the dozen or so years since that war, 8,300 veterans have died, and 160,000 claims for disability have been recognized by the VA.

Does this make any hawks think differently? These people did agree to do for their country, but they also expected that country to take care of them if they were maimed. Does this make any hawks change their mind about waging war when your economy is suffering

But tax cuts are reaching record highs while the deficit is spiralling out of control. Schoolboards all across the country are going bankrupt. The Iraq was is now costing HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS. I read an estimate that the war in iraq could cost Americans $1 Trillion Dollars. I laughed and thought it was an extreme theory. I guess I might have spoke too soon.

Aren't you people just sick of being lied to by all of your politicians? All of you republicans and democrats out there have to be disgusted by what your respective parties are doing.
