Millenium Actress - At first i didnt know what to think of it, but after reading some reviews on it i ordered it from netflix. the way the story (vaugly described as a love story) is told is extremely intricate and woven into the actresses career, which paralelled her quest to find someone from her past. great anime for those who like drama/romance based animes.

Naruto Shippuden - Ninjas n' Stuff (9/10 so far)
Naruto Shippuden is basically the end of the fillers of the original Naruto! This takes place approximatelly 2 1/2 years after the last episode of Naruto. Thank god the fillers are over. Okay I don't really think this is illegal because it hasn't even come out on DVD yet so here's where you can watch the one episode out right now: I'll post it later =P |

By the way, recommending something that JUST AIRED ITS FIRST EPISODE is generally not acceptable. You can't tell if a show is amazing or not with just one episode. In Naruto's case, it's impossible to be amazing no matter how many episodes they air to rectify the mistakes they've made. |

So if I had to pick either GTO or Hellsing... well at least which should I watch first? Looking for something as amazing as CB if that's possible.

Hellsing is an action show just like Cowboy Bebop.
I think you'd like it. |

Quite electrifying.

And for a recommendation, Yotsubato!. It's from the maker of Azumanga Daioh, and I consider it to be just as hilarious. I would guarantee it, but I'm not George Zimmerman. |

Anyone looked into Hellsing Ultimate? It's kicked ass so far. It's much darker. Alucard is a lot darker as well like. The only thing that disapointed me was the soundtrack. It's not like the Hellsing OST. It's more orchestral.

So I watched all of the original Hellsing series yesterday, if the 13 episodes I found are all that exist, and today I watched two episodes of Hellsing Ultimate, which are all that I could find. Maybe there are more episodes out that I can't find, but either way the previews show that the prime enemy is a big nazi dude.
I prefer the original artwork to the ultimate artwork, though I don't really mind the amount of CGI stuff they use in ultimate. And I was sort of bothered by the original soundtrack, especially the theme for the purple-pattern guy with the song that just goes "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!" (edit: Oh right, I'm also not a big fan of super-caricatured emotions, and hellsing ultimate goes a little overboard while the original has none that I noticed.) And a question about GTO... I've gotten to the point where one student has moved in with onizuka, and she starts to take her clothes off... tell me this doesn't all turn into a hentai festival? I mean I'm fine with it, but my parents would forever declare me a screwed-up child if they walked in on a scene like that... (edit: okay never mind... shut your faces) (one more time: damn you people and your addicting anime recommendations... I'll never sleep!)

Here's what I watched over this vacation:
Hellsing: 13 episodes, I liked it Hellsing Ultimate: 2 episodes, not as good as original, plus really incomplete Great Teacher Onizuka: 43 episodes, I liked most of it, but it doesn't seem to have an end at this point so I'm assuming it's still running. Anybody know if this is true? and I haven't seen Appleseed :P

You didn't seem the type.
Oh well. I watched it and thought "Ender's Game" through the entire series. So if you liked Ender's Game, odds are good that you'll like the whole show. Oh, and one of my favorite anime songs ev0r comes up soon. They use two ending themes: happy and sad. If the episode was happy, they use the happy ending. If the episode was remotely depressing, they use the sad ending. The sad ending is phenomenal. |

I don't know the first thing about Ender's game, so I'm going in completely neutral here.
I'm also pretty sure that I haven't heard the sad ending yet. Maybe I've skipped over it (as I'll usually listen to both themes on the first episode and skip them thereafter unless they rule too much, e.g. Tylor and Eva), but I'll pay closer attention to that now, Squeek. Thanks. EDIT: Missed the "soon" in your post. Ahwell. EDIT2: Just got to the first episode with the dramatic ending. Song was good, but nothing to write home about. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com

I'm definitely recommending Stellvia, now.
I don't know why you didn't think me the type, Squeek, since Kare Kano and SMJ are two of my favorite animes... --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

I've actually seen some of those recommendations like Card Capture Sakura, Azumanga Daioh and Love Hina. I really liked all of them.
I don't know if this has been suggested (recommended) before but I would say Full Moon Wo Sagash!te (I think it's licensed by now), somehow. F(ull)M(oon)W(o)S(agash!te): http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=21 EDIT: Damn that stupid censor :P

Hey Squeek, I'm one of those "Narutards" as you would call it. I'm not really into any online anime right now, I like stuff like Naruto, Bleach, FMA, InuYasha, basically all the super mainstream anime. Do you think I would like Cowboy Bebop? How many episodes is it also?
Edit: Actually I've watched the first 2 episodes of Hikaru No Go and really liked it. I think I'll watch that. Last edited by Billydude; 03-10-2007 at 10:11 PM.. |
