Wow I am only 15 now but i think it is very scary because it is like signing yourself up to die...
If people wanted to risk their lives for their country by going into war then that is their own choice and it should not be the governments. I think that they should let people in college stay there because they are trying to learn. I am against the draft completely and would choose to move over sees if someday I got drafted, which will hopefully not happen... -----Soccr743----- |

The other thing is that you can't believe everything you read onine. I wouldn't believe any of this without any official word from the newspaper or official TV news stations. |

Drafting people from college... sounds a little counter-productive. It's the people in college that are going to go somewhere and move the country forward, putting them in harms way seems a bit odd...
Why can't we just live in peace dangit :P. |

The "real" draft will not be enacted in all of your lives, the military is completely volunteer as of now, and there is a large amount as it is, the only time we will need a draft is if some "superpower" invades us. And considering that we are the superpower, I don't see this happening. Besides, if you were drafted, you'd better serve you damn country with pride, not doing so would make you hypocritical. This country offers more then you think, if you don't like it then fuckin leave. Go to some other country, who cares we don't need any more draft dodging assholes.

Sure, buddy, but no, not really. Unless you are an insanely hot girl, judging by your syntax I would have to say no.

Everyone should be able to fight, if need be, but I know where you are coming from, most wars today are faught for the wrong reasons.

You are misunderstanding the point of a draft if you think those in college should be immune...
One reason for dissent over Vietnam was why should the rich people who can afford college not be forced into service and sent to die? We are all Americans, and if someone has to go, it shouldn't be selective on what you're doing. the only inhibitor should be if you are, or if you aren't, physical able to handle combat. Personally, I don't believe in a draft. If they need to institute a draft in order to make people fight, then we shouldn't be fighting there. I would of signed up to fight for WW2, but I wouldn't fight in Vietnam, and I would probably not volunteer for service in Iraq. I would defend my country, but I can't do so blindly. I respect anyone who volunteers for service or has fought in a war tremendously, but i could never bring myself to do it unless I could agree with the reasons I am being asked to fight.

i agree with spook... i cant really fight to fight... if i don't like the reason or support it.. im not really going to want to fight.. but if i do get sent out and I have to fight for survival.. then it going to be me over anyone else..

wise statement spook, very well said...i dont 100% agree but if the whole country wants to go to war, im not going to 'chicken out'...as many people that ducked the drafts were looked upon as...and arent there many rules saying why you cannot be drafted...of course there is an age range, but i think if youre the only one in your family name, or the only son, or a son of a vet that died in combat or something you dont have to go

Good man, I agree totally, if you live in this country you should serve in it's Armed Forces.

OK, aren't we a little beyond killing our neighbors? I mean come on! We're supposed to be civilized here. If we were invaded by some other country though, unlike in all other cases, I would be at the recruiting office in a jiffy.
