Default Nader running 2004, HAHA Democrats....

SOURCE

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WASHINGTON — Former Green Party candidate Ralph Nader is poised to declare that he will seek the presidency again this year, this time as an independent and despite a vigorous effort by the left to dissuade him, according to friends and associates.
"I think there's very little doubt," said Micah Sifry, author of a book on third-party politics and a longtime Nader watcher. "I think he's going to run."

Nader, blamed for tilting the 2000 election to President Bush by siphoning off votes from Al Gore, twice has delayed saying whether he would be a candidate, but insiders expect the declaration next week.

Sifry is part of the campaign to stop Nader from running, including an open letter to him last month in The Nation, a liberal magazine that has been associated with Nader for 30 years. Nader contributors from 2000, such as Ben Cohen, a co-founder of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, also are organizing "No, Ralph, No" efforts.

Some Nader advocates had an epiphany after the 2000 election. Bush beat Gore by 537 votes in Florida, where Nader received 97,488 votes. Nader also arguably cost Gore New Hampshire.

Nader always has rejected the spoiler label. "It is not my job to elect my opponents," he has said.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HAHA, the democrats are getting screwed again.

What was going through this guy's head when he decided to run?
that is the BIGGEST waste of money one could ever make. I mean, if the polls say Kerry barely has a chance of winning, what makes him think he can defeat Bush when he is a 3RD PARTY CANDIDATE????
What a dipshit.

I hate this guy. Really, he's just a jerk and an idiot for running. He claims that he will "be a strong alternate to Bush this upcoming election" when he knows as well as everybody else in the godamn world he doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell of being elected. He's here to play a spoiler yet again, just like he did in the 2000 election. He claims he's Independent (but he's really very Liberal) yet what was promising to be a close race between Kerry and Bush just turned biased for Bush, because of this idiot running for office. This was our chance to get Bush out of office, and what does he do? He ruins it again. Fuck this guy, seriously. People like him piss me off to no end...

Just look at it like this:

Kerry chances of winning when nader runs: 0%

Kerry chances of winning without nader: 0%

He was screwed either way, the polls are always inflated, the republicans haven't begun their smear campaign like the democrats, just wait till the fireworks start.

The reason nader is running is the same any third party candidate would run.. If the two main parties want the votes he will soak up, then they better start addressing the issues he is trying to raise, because what would anyone want to vote for Nader for when Kerry champions the majority of his ideas and then some?

It has been how American politics have worked since its creation. third parties gain momentum and then the two main parties absorb the ideas or get destroyed. The Republican party was actually a third party way back around when Lincoln became president. What happened is the ideas of the older party, The Federalists grew out of touch with the people and they lost their power base because no one wanted to believe their ideas anymore.

it is actually better for everyone if we applaud nader, because he is keeping American politics alive.

I'm not going to vote for him, oh hell no, but those people who voted for bush in the first election could of just as easily voted for Gore, so I see it no more his fault than Bush's.

The way things are going now though, I don't see the possibility of a third party becoming that large anytime soon. Right now we are resting on a bipolar political system that is just too strong.

I hope you're kinding with those seond figures.

Kerry and Bush a VERY close. Some days, polls show Bush ahead at 51%, while other days, he is behind at 49%; depending on what's hapenning around the world that day.
Kerry WOULD have had a chance against dipshit George had it not been for fucktard ralph.

My only theory as to why he'd want to run, is to get Kerry to offer him a government position in return for him not running (IF kerry gets elected)

Kerry wouldn't win as is. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Whenever a president is running for re-election, they win if the economy is doing better than it was when that person stepped into office. Ideals, morals, all that kind of stuff we claim is what we are going to vote for is null and void, because we want more money circulating in the country.

I think it's good Nader is running again, because he might have a shot at getting that 10% for the Green Party, getting them more money for campaigning next year from the government itself, and not just from their own pockets.

Nader is very much running. And like Cyclopse said, you're an idiot, Spec. The polls are so unbelieveably close that it was promising to be quite a show, there's quite a few people who arn't happy with Bush. My own father, a right wing Republican, thinks Bush did a royall job of screwing things up in office, and I agree. This isn't so much a race of issues, it's more of a race of "Get the idiot the hell out of office".

Also:

Not true, as Nader tends to stray over to the Liberal side, people who don't want to vote for Kerry (or Gore back then) will (and did) vote for Nader. Republicans who don't like Bush arn't going to vote for him, and people don't like to feel that their vote is being wasted.

Ralph Nader will run as an independent. He already announced on the news that he plans to get his name on the ballot as an Independent in all 50 states.
