I am leaning more towards Stepmania mainly because the timing on osu!mania is weird for me to get used to and that the interface bothers me. I also do not like the fact that you have to time the hold and release of each hold note for osu!mania.

However, osu!mania have a brighter future then Stepmania does seeing that osu!mania has a much bigger fanbase and that the number is growing rapidly. It is being maintained and it gets updated every few weeks or so which tells you that the game is still extremely active.

EDIT: I do enjoy both though.
