those big pink circles? that just means "section pass", basically it shows a circle if you have over 1/2 your life bar during a long break. if you have less than half you'll get a "section fail", a big red X. it doesn't really do anything or affect your score, it's just for show.
the red arrows are just to alert you the break is over and notes are coming, but i was assuming you knew that already.
