While he could be trying to save Wayward, his actions make less sense if he's wolf knowing you are town.

It matters because your current world makes less sense than that.

One could argue Backpack made that last vote because of an opening suddenly to save his partner.

Falls flat when wolves probably knew Wayward would get modkilled though since we went through so many replacements already.

But it's still more believable than pairing me and backpack together.
