I feel accomplished. I should learn to code this kinda stuff because it's interesting. I usually have some makeshift idea in a spreadsheet that I can't fully execute because I lack programming knowledge

I used this free book (.pdf version) to learn the basics. It took me less than a month to get through the first 10 chapters (where I stopped) and it wasn't much of a challenge.
I also audited two online courses (one from Michigan State and one from MIT) just to familiarize myself with most of the basics. By no means am I an expert. In fact, everything I used in that script is considered beginner-type knowledge.
If you have the free time, might as well do something productive with it.
