This is the reason why I play SM3.95 over 5.x. That kind of MA difference isn't just from suddenly skillboosting when I played them songs immediately one after the other. Not to mention on my monitor notes scroll much more smoothly on 3.95 than 5.x. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the customizability and general ease of use of 5.x but I can't score for shit on it. Everything suffers when I'm actually playing. :/

To be honest, I thought I was in a major slump because I had been using 5.x for a long time, trying to figure out why I couldn't play JS and other hardpain style songs. Then one day I saw that I had a 3.95 build (Mina's build ) on my exdrive and figured I'd play around with it. Lo and behold, everything was vastly improved over my scores on 5.x. I really wish that weren't the case because I really do love 5.x: it has such amazing and vast improvements. Not to mention dat Barebones by Jouseway. Still the sexiest skin for 5.x haha!

None of the bar noteskins on here isn't something you like for 3.95?

you tried the waveout fix? dramatically improved fps and acc for me

just go to preferences.ini in your appdata/stepmania 5/save folder and change SoundDrivers= to SoundDrivers=WaveOut

also maybe try switching renderer to d3d
