Honestly I don't know how Guitar Hero would do, but I firmly believe that Harmonix at least will do a good job of making Rock Band 4. They have had a lot of success with other things like Dance Central so it's not like they haven't been doing anything, nor were they disbanded.

On the grounds of making new equipment, both companies always do have the option of making any existing peripherals still usable. So they still could do that.
