this is based on my last.fm mostly so i'm sure theres some that arent coming to mind, tho i guess if they didnt impact me well enough to leave that lasting impression then they deserve to be omitted, i guess. a lot of these are hip-hop or aligned with hip-hop in some way but in my opinion they all helped shaped the genre into something completely different and more "emotionally open" for lack of a better term rn. Before 2010 it wasn't really cool to show emotions or deep shit in your rap. A lot of those albums also brought new techniques and styles into the production game. Death Grips was cited by a lot of people in the community as a possible influence on Kanye West's "Yeezus" being so filled with loud and abrasive production for example.
