Everyone wants to win, including me and you. I know I won't win in this tourney or get anywhere close to the top 3 in D6, but I still participate because I want to know how well I do compared with other players in a competitive environment and I want to improve. It feels good when you see your scores improve even by just a bit, no?

Don't feel so negative about this. After all, you got into one of the top divisions! Give yourself a pat on the back! The ranking system has its own flaws, but given the tradition for players to be separated into 7 divisions based on skill ratings, everyone participating would have a chance to start at any position in the competition leaderboard. Instead of viewing the tourney as a chance to win, see the tourney as an opportunity for improving your skills! No one really knows for sure that they couldn't improve: It might take a lot of playing to get a skill boost. The fun and excitement comes from improvements!
