Last year I keep seeing people joining from other games and immediately jumping ahead of me and pushing my rank down. It felt like I was fighting just to protect my rank from all these random new people so I guess those were my rivals. Nowadays this is much less common, both because we've switched to top 50 scoring and because I've gotten so much better myself.
