The resolution is just 1024x768, nothing special about the monitor. As for all the icons, it's technically not my computer. I just use it to play Stepmania since it's more convenient that way (it doesn't work right on my computer)
The rubik's cube is to stop the keyboard sliding away from me (which has happened when playing OML and kin)
