Okay, this topic was originally dubbed religion-free. However, as it has been brought up many times in this thread, I must be an apologist for my faith. (No, this doesn't mean I'm sorry. Look it up.)
Speaking as a Catholic:
The Catholic ethos views homosexual inclinations as a challenge in faith - to overcome one's nature to serve God. Think about kleptomania for a second. They're inclined to steal, yet it's a mental challenge to not steal. It can be a major lesson in personal growth to be a lifelong virgin. It's not the path I want to take, but for many, it helps them get closer to God and themselves.
