Early in the Vista era I was using the HP Pavilion dv2500se. Performance wise it ran FFR and Stepmania 3.9 fine but I wouldn't trust it to run any of the more demanding games from that time. Also the built-in keyboard was pretty mid. Near the end of its life the latches holding in the battery also started to give out.

I didn't have this laptop, but the Dell Inspiron 6400 was really popular at the time for FFR/Stepmania. Was pretty affordable while still having a good keyboard for laptop standards.
