Default Re: VSauce2's Infinite Money Paradox Reaction

I don't believe the VSauce guy fully understands the dynamics or decision-making process we use in our lives, or he is being facetious about it in order to present something as seemingly infinite that we should somehow be more excited about.

As not all infinities are created equal (and most are different), this is really the asymptotic case, where the rate at which potential earnings grows is exactly the rate at which the chance of actually getting to those earnings shrinks, so the excitement totally cancels out.

Infinities are only valuable if they can seemingly accumulate in a finite amount of time. That's the trick.

With this game here, the expected number of turns until you lose is always 2 more turns. So there is no way to look forward to all that many more turns until you lose, realistically. And yes, the median is always a better benchmark to look at for distributions as infinitely skewed as this one when making decisions.

What good is an infinite amount of money if you have to sit there an infinite amount of time in order to do nothing but wait for it forever? Sounds like another definition of hell.
