iirc, r^3 can do it when using the AS3 capabilities without any issues at all; I recall Velo saying something about the frame limit not being an issue because R^3 itself has multiple ways of handling the music/streamsound attribute (it also might be the reason why offsets are drastically different between 30 FPS and 31+ FPS on R^3 since you can actually support decimals in the latter but not the former)
and R^2/earlier can just be hacked like you mentioned (not that it's the most grandeur of solutions, but)
