Re: FFR Runners
I've done 2 marathons now.
First one was the Virgin London Marathon, which i trained for but i sadly injured myself 2 months prior to the start date. I ran it with a knee support, and i finished in 4h 59m 12. My goal was sub 5 hours so i cut it pretty fine!
Second one was the Brighton Marathon, i trained poorly and i didn't know this but i gave myself a stress fracture on 27th March (thought it was just a bad ache), and the race date was 6th April. I didn't do any more training runs to let it heal.
5 miles in and i was in a bit of pain, 10 miles in i was in unbearable pain so i walked the rest (more of a hobble) as it was for a charity and i wanted to finish. Took me almost 7 hours!
I will do another marathon in the future but i'd like to break 4 hours. I've learnt a lot about the body during these two marathons, and i've had so many physio sessions which have taught me more.
Third time lucky!
With regards to 5k i see a lot of people talking about my best isn't very fast: 24.11, and my best 10k is 51 minutes.
