- Verify that you have your most recent graphics drivers.
- Try setting processor priority to Above Normal.
- Try setting your processor affinity to something different.
- Change the display color of your images from 32-bit to 16-bit in SM's Graphic Options menu.
- Change the texture resolution from the default 1024 down to 512, or 256 in SM's Graphic Options menu.
- Turn off Keep Textures in Memory in SM's Graphic Options menu (note: this may make SM load a bit more slowly).
- Set your background brightness to 0% in SM's Backgrounds menu (note: it does make a difference compared to using the "Cover" mod since cover is essentially adding a black background layer on top of your background).
