I have a fear of flying. It's dumb, it's safer than driving or walking, but I just don't like being that high up.

Also, Lightknight, use the edit button =D.

It's not the falling from the plane that scares me. I'm okay with falling great distances. Hell, I'm great at it. Every time, I'll hit the target dead on. The wind whipping past your face like a nice breeze, the smell of the briny ocean rushing in, enticing your olfactory sense... You eyes close, for if you kept them open, they would surley dry out. And then you open them. You don't know why, you do. The ground is rushing to greet you with arms wide open, but its embrace is not one that you readily accept. Gravity helps you decide wether or not you're going to salute the ground in such a manner, and all control over your life is lost. The forces of gravity and attraction have decided your fate, and no matter how good of a Christian you are or what a good person you were, you can't change the fact that the earth is so welcoming. The ground is almost at you. You want to remember what it was like to breathe, but you can't. All the air is gone from your lungs as you try to freeze times, to have your life flash in front of your eyes, to live those moments again, but you're not granted the respite. You feel the blades of grass against your cheek, and you feel a fire rushing through your body as it takes in Mother Nature's love and respect. Your eyes roll back in your head as your body no longer feels pain; all the nerve endings are shot, your endorphines are pumping out much faster than normal.

And then... Nothing.

"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor
