For arenas, pick your first 10 ignoring curve, just take the most powerful card (within its cost bracket) and then start worrying about it.
Never pass on an Acidic Swamp Ooze or Shattered Sun Cleric. Spellbreaker is great too. (Shuts down most legendary/epic cards, removes buffs and taunt, wins games)
Don't overload with situational cards, like if you draft priest and get 2 mind controls, don't take more than 1 SW: Death or else you'll be flooded with unusable cards.
If you ever think to yourself "I'll pass on it now, and grab one later" give your head a shake and take it, you don't know if there are 0 or 10 in the next 20 picks.
You can also watch some streams/videos to get more insight on which picks are good, Kripp and Trump do a value town video on youtube/twitch every now and then. They aren't the end-all authority on arena play, but for a beginner their views on certain cards/decks can help you understand things better.
