Re: Least Favorite Game Features
When the gameplay stalls ridiculously too much.
I play games to PLAY games, I don't want to watch a damn movie. It's ok if there's a story, but please don't make 75% of the game dialogs and cutscenes. Similarly I hate when games are being really, REALLY passive. It's just not fun to me. Puzzles games are fine as long as you keep doing something that requires playing the game. Backtracking for half an hour every 5 minutes of action in Metroid, no, thanks. It wears on my mind, I'd rather have a 5 minutes loading sequence and possibly do something more interesting meanwhile. Lastly, grinding when it's just a repetitive action that is simply required for make the game last longer. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that you have to train until your character is strong enough. Difficulty should force the player to get better, not the ingame character!
(Yes I strongly hate most RPG games.)
