Are the people who did all that Seniors that just got out of school? Also, is your friend a Senior?

A similar thing happened with my neighbor. She is a Junior and a bunch of Senior girls badly TP'd her house and badly egged her car, and her parents 3 cars. This was the work of 6 Senior girls just fooling around with the popular Junior since they're friends. My neighbor said that they were going to TP her but they didn't say anything about egging the cars. She said "They're just having fun because they don't legally have to go to school anymore" and never meant any real harm.

That might be the case with your friend. Seniors playing around with some Junior or something.
