Fixing up all my files and sending "minor fixes" tonight. Gonna reply to judges as I go too (mostly to help me keep organized)
dr1-
I agree with you MN about it having an incredibly misleading title... that is what the song is called though! (btw there's a dr2 which is the -exact- same song but with a different set of drum samples. It's much rougher sounding, the clean attacks of dr1 are more suited for FFR imo)
Thanks for the note about the missing hi-hat at 12.959, good catch.
@Niala the two 48th jumps are for a drum flam. It's pretty obvious sounding to me and it checks out on the waveform... no idea what your problem with them was 0_o
I agree about the missing hi-hats, thanks to your comment and MN's I fixed the hi-hat layering in the first part entirely.
The stream is very "one direction" because the sound is. It's all descending tom rolls.
I know some people think drum solos suck as a song but hey I love 'em, haters gonna hate.
I complain all the time about japan music in FFR but I still judge the files fairly, glad to see that's the case here with my file ^_^
Bloody Tears-
MN, about stepping the rhythm guitar of the melody synth... I can't bring myself to do it bro. Just tried and it doesn't feel like a Bloody Tears file without runningmen ;_;
- Dat walking man at 158.745s. The left arrow is getting tired, please change the pattern around a bit, there is a lot more you can do here than repeating the same thing you did in the intro. It doesn't even have to be a running man!
Deviance! It has to be a runningman! The Holy Laws of Stepping Castlevania Covers demand it! That said I went and mirrored one part so it feels more broken up like the first two runningmen.
Really I just have a vision of this file being runningman-y and I can't get away from it, call me stubborn.
btw I made "that jumpspam section" much less aggressive as you suggested. it's 3 alternating jumptrills then a beat of jumpspam, then 3 more alternating jumptrills and 1 more jumpspam before the 24ths... you'll see, it's not as difficulty-spiky anymore but it still makes sense
Honestly I'm still not sure why this file recieved the ratings it did but that's fine. I chalk it up to being SSH and runningmen haha can't get away with stepping what people don't like, can I?
As for all the "stop stepping S.S.H." comments... stop rejecting my non-S.S.H. files and maybe I will! huehue
Return to Fire-
megamon-
-jump would be appropriate at 31.76s imo
done. goes to the "urrgh" vocal :P
-extra jump at 45.51s
there's a actually snare drum there.
-starting at 119.86s, your time signature becomes off by an 8th note, not too much of a problem though
wasn't sure about this, it felt like they lost half a beat here in the song... I'll be honest, I have no clue (after tapping it out I actually think there are multiple 2/4 measures) and I like how the colors line up with the song this way, and in the absence of any other judge complaining about this I'm going to leave it. nothing personal!
@Choofers no hands because I wanted it to feel oldschool. I am partial to handless JS files, they remind me of da good ol days of stepman
Hands certainly would fit so I agree with your comment, this is just a "my style" thing idk
I'll fix the other 3 files tomorrow then attend to my pack hopefully. I haven't died guys, I swear!
