Locked, always. Deadbolt and all. I never leave them unlocked, even if I'm expecting people. I don't live in the best area of town and crimes are moderately common here.

Don't really see the point in leaving them open. Too many break ins in this area, and we've had an attempted robbery here while I was home. Guy had a gun, but I called the police (thankfully the police got him on escape route), so I get a chuckle out of people that think it's cool to leave it open as long as you're home.

I know lots of people that leave them open all of the time. Most of them live in rich neighborhoods. Not sure why break ins in these areas aren't more common. It would be easy as hell to rob my dad blind half of the time. Guess it's probably because most criminals come from low SES areas and target homes in areas they're familiar with.
