ABSOLUTELY!
I think FFR is unique because of its song selection, its noteskin style, the concept of combos and boos, etc. I am stunned that people want to preserve the FFR image by maintaining the characteristics that have so far been excluded from the game. I honestly think this is handicapping the progress of the game. There are many other characteristics to celebrate that is unique to FFR (see above); I don't see why you should celebrate the LACK of features that could possibly make FFR better.
--------
My second concern is that some people view potential new features such as marvelous accuracy, mines, etc. as those which would affect their gameplay. This is unfortunate, because I think at least some people wouldn't mind if they actually considered that these additions could be seen as alternatives that do NOT affect traditional gameplay.
For example: some people have said that they are against marvelous accuracy because it would affect the scoreboard, and they have trouble hitting notes on time anyhow. Well, did you consider that the marvelous accuracy is just an additional measure to show your accuracy without affecting your score? A AAA is still obtained in the same way; marvelous timing won't affect your score.
If holds and mines were an option, people might be more open to it. Mines could be an optional feature that does not blast your scoring away if you want. Same with holds, although I think holds are a more fundamental aspect of the game than mines are.
My main point is that FFR can be enriched without affecting traditional gameplay that many people enjoy, by having alternative features as either separate entities or not counting within the scoring system. I'd like to acknowledge though that Zageron has taken at least some of this into account:

and I'd like to thank him for thinking of these possibilities.
Features can be added without sacrificing the old ways.

Pretty much...there's a ton of conservative thoughts around here. FFR won't be killed lol.
