Maybe it's just that I have a really good relative pitch instead of its counterpart (I can recognize pitches of fire alarms or car honks tho)
I have this weird halfway point in between. If I hear a door squeak or something I can tell you what partials of the fundamental tone were expressed to cause the squeak, but I can't tell you what the pitch of the fundamental is. However, I've played guitar so much that I know about where E and D are on the scale, so I can refer to those and tease out what the pitch is. This test moves way too fucen fast for me though.
