I believe it's termed as flashfire or flashback or something like that- it's when the nozzle of a flammable thing (like a pressurized can) is used in the same way and the flame created goes back in, travelling back down the "path" of the conical spray into the can itself. People have gotten the can to explode in their hand and whatnot. I don't think it would be as much of a problem with the supersoaker, as it isn't as pressurized, and thus a smaller surface area.
