I would agree (to an extent) with the adage "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy," but I don't think we can quite safely assume that the kid's eschewal of video games indicates that he has completely forbade himself from having fun. Instead, the article and video suggest that he finds enjoyment in other activities (e.g. martial arts, scuba diving, etc.) that are merely more productive than video games. Furthermore, to say that he has consequently missed out on leisure and social interaction would be to risk implying that video games are the only suitable channel for such experiences. Thus, though there isn't anything inherently wrong with playing video games (and in fact there are quite a few indirect benefits of doing so), he feels that his time could be better spent on more worthwhile pursuits, and in a way, his talent has placed somewhat of an obligation on him (whether or not he is aware of it) to adopt such a mindset. Cut the kid some slack...
