Re: Internet Explorer or Firefox?
Firefox is way better than IE. It's more secure and everything, but I use it for three main reasons.
1) Adblock Plus + Filterset.G Updater: This is a godsend, and everyone should use it. Sometimes I visit FFR on IE, and I'm stunned at the number of ads there are. No, I don't feel guilty about blocking them; I usually never click on ads anyways. Perhaps someday I'll subscribe and make up for it.
2) (Just discovered) Vertical Tab Tree extension: Right now, I have around 50-60 tabs open. When turned vertical on the side of my screen, it is much easier to keep track of them, especially since tabs can be nested.
3) Session restore/save (Tab Mix Plus): this is great; self-explanatory, really.
Firefox-awesomeness isn't really about the browser, per se, but more about the extensions that aren't available for any other browser. Opera is decent, but can't really compare. Some other awesome extensions that make life fun: Tab Renamizer (...um, I use it for lolcats, yeah...) and NoScript (for the extremely paranoid, who don't want random websites to trash their computer).
